Elwynn Forest is the human starting zone in Classic Azeroth. Between Northshire, Goldshire and the roads to Stormwind, the countryside feels inhabited and relatively familiar.

Yet proximity to the capital does not protect everyone. Kobolds occupy mines, the Defias threaten roads and farms, and the gnoll Hogger provides an early challenge. Elwynn reveals the tension between royal order and danger on the doorstep.
