How the battleground works
This is a 15-versus-15 match. Four bases and a central flag award points; the first team to 2,000 wins. The flag must reach a captured friendly base, so flag runs and base control need to work together.
How to join
The published level range is 30–60. Queue through a capital-city battlemaster. The Barrens also has faction camps at the Merchant Coast for Horde and Northwatch for Alliance; check their battleground quests as well.
Hold before chasing
Do not all leave immediately after taking a point. Agree who stays and who calls for help. A short message with the location and enemy count is more useful than just “help”. Leave your post only after an intentional handover.
Give the flag a route
Before picking up the flag, check which friendly base is reachable and secure. Escort the carrier, keep pursuers away and stay within supporting range. If the destination falls, change the plan. This is a situational decision, not one universal route.
Retake with support
Do not run one by one into a much larger group. Regroup briefly, name a target and move together. A distraction can help if it saves another objective; without coordination it often becomes a long fight with no payoff.
Reputation and rewards
Both factions have their own reputation vendors. Judge rewards by your role and their actual reputation requirement. Rank, reputation and spendable currency are different. Before spending marks, check whether a relevant reputation quest needs them.
Three decisions that change a match
Your team holds several bases, but the flag fight is dragging on. Do not automatically send every defender there. Extra pressure is useful only if you are not giving away your existing source of points.
You have the flag, but the intended destination is under attack. Tell the carrier immediately and decide whether support or another secure friendly base makes more sense. The right choice depends on the actual situation, not a fixed route.
Make calls that others can act on
“Three enemies at our base; need support” is more useful than “everyone here.” Use the name shown on your map and say whether you are still holding or already down. Your team can then send an appropriate response.
When answering a call, say you are coming. Two coordinated helpers can be more useful than several players unknowingly abandoning other points at once.
Improve one thing after the match
Look beyond kills. Did you spot an approaching group early? Return in time? Protect the flag carrier rather than fight nearby? Pick one of those tasks for your next match.
If you keep attacking several enemies alone, change your meeting point and timing first. Better equipment helps, but cannot replace a coordinated retake.
