Which Professions Should I Choose? WoW Forever Picker

Your class offers a starting point, but your habits decide the best pairing for you. This profession picker considers what you want to make, how much gathering you enjoy, and the time and gold you want to invest.

Two primary professions, three secondary skills

Your character can learn two primary professions. Herbalism, Mining and Skinning use those slots just as crafting professions do. Cooking, Fishing and First Aid are secondary professions and can all be learned in addition. Plan a primary pair, then add the secondary skills you enjoy or need. There is no need to drop a crafting profession to make room for Fishing.

Choose a pair you will actually use

Herbalism and Alchemy turn gathered herbs into your own potions. Mining supplies Blacksmithing or Engineering, while Skinning supplies Leatherworking. Tailoring uses cloth from your loot and does not need a dedicated gathering profession. Pairing it with Enchanting can work well, though both draw on materials you might otherwise sell or use elsewhere. Two gathering professions are another option if you would rather sell raw materials for now.

Count your time as part of the cost

Gathering your own materials still takes time. A crafting profession fits comfortably into your routine only if you want to source ingredients and pursue useful recipes. With limited playtime, a simple gathering habit may suit you better. If friends or another character supply materials, two crafting professions can become more practical. That is why the questions distinguish your budget, your available time and your enthusiasm for gathering.

Check demand before spending

No profession guarantees a profit. Look at what materials and finished items people need, and include ingredients and auction fees in your calculations. For self-sufficiency, ask whether you regularly use the things you plan to make. Start with small batches, keep enough gold for training, and open the relevant profession guide when you are ready to choose recipes and work toward your next skill milestone.

Common questions

Can I learn two crafting professions and a gathering profession?

No. Gathering professions count toward your two primary slots. Two crafting professions leave no extra slot for Herbalism, Mining or Skinning. Cooking, Fishing and First Aid can be learned in addition.

Which professions make the most gold?

That depends on demand, material prices and how you play. Gathering lets you sell raw materials; crafting can suit you when you have useful recipes and buyers. The recommendations suggest practical approaches without promising a fixed profit or gold per hour.

Should I always choose the profession that makes my armor?

You can, but it is one option among several. Potions, enchantments, engineering tools and selling raw materials may also support your character. Choose according to what you actually want to use or make.
