Choose a start and destination
Open the Atlas and search for your actual location. Use the navigation symbol on a result to set your start, then find your destination. Select your character’s faction before comparing the suggested connections.
Read each transfer separately. A dock, flight master and inn in the same town are different places; travelling between them is part of your journey.
Alliance: the main sea connections
Stormwind and Auberdine connect in both directions. Auberdine also has a return connection with Rut’theran, and Menethil connects directly with Theramore.
The other coastal service follows a circuit: Auberdine → Menethil → Southshore → Auberdine. From Menethil to Auberdine, Southshore is part of this route. Do not leave at the first intermediate harbour unless that is your destination.

Horde: choose the correct zeppelin platform
Orgrimmar, Undercity and Grom’gol form three direct links: Orgrimmar ↔ Undercity, Orgrimmar ↔ Grom’gol and Undercity ↔ Grom’gol. The Orgrimmar and Undercity boarding points are outside the cities themselves.
Platforms for different destinations are close together. Check the destination at the platform rather than taking the first zeppelin you see. After landing, look at the zone map before heading towards town or your quests.

Neutral ports and Zephras
Ratchet ↔ Booty Bay connects Kalimdor with Stranglethorn Vale. Steamwheedle Port in Tanaris ↔ Powderfuse Port in the Riverglades provides another crossing. Both services are listed for both factions.
Zephras has separate connections: High Order Dock ↔ Dalaran for Alliance and Windshapers Dock ↔ Skywatch Plateau in Mulgore for Horde. On a Skyborne character’s first departure, take the matching concluding quest; the transport link does not replace that quest sequence.
Flights and city transfers
A proposed route is not a booked flight. Check that your character can actually select the destination at the flight master. If a leg is unavailable, use a reachable port or another connection as your intermediate destination.
The Deeprun Tram is a direct alternative to the long overland journey between Stormwind and Ironforge. Feralas also has a boat between Feathermoon’s island and the opposite coast. Choose the actual landing point, not only the name of the entire zone.
When the route does not fit your character
Clear the current route before planning from a completely different start. Then set the start, destination and faction again. A straight line across water or mountains is not a verified walking path.
For a risky connection, distance is not everything: check enemy levels, faction guards and the way back. An extra known transfer is often better than a shortcut through enemies that repeatedly send you to the graveyard.
